QLD Fishing Report

Brought to you by Compleat Angler Mackay:

What a difference a week makes, plenty of sunshine to allows us back into the creeks but too windy to get offshore. While the crabbing effort is still there, the numbers and size are average. Prawns are on the move out of the creeks taking advantage of the dark moon tomorrow night. The mouth of Rocky Dam Ck, Armstrong and Grasstree Beach and Rabbit Island Creek worked over with cast nets at the last of the run out tide. Still a few barra around the solid structures i.e. bridges etc although tarpon have won the race to the lures in some cases. King salmon can be found along the gutters up from the mouth of Constant and the sand bank out the mouth of Rocky Dam Creek. Landbased angler have found whiting along Town and Illawong Beach and the mouth of Bakers Creek using lobby baits, while yellowtail trevally have been seen fining and feeding on the lobby grounds 200-300m of those beaches which is accessed from the Pioneer River by boat. Keep your options open for a fish wide of Sarina around Snare Peak for quality bottom fish and nearby Snare Rock for a troll for Spanish mackerel.

Good Luck.
