QLD Fishing Report

Brought to you by Compleat Angler Mackay:

A couple of good things have come our way in the past week. Good rain, and the River street boat ramp upgrade complete with pontoon is finished ahead of schedule and I believe below budget. Reports in by those who have used it gave it the tick of approval.  Unfortunately wind has put a stop to any offshore activity despite the suitable tides so with the creeks being a suitable alternative, luring over bait has accounted for the bigger percentage of catches. Soft and hard vibes being the go to style for king salmon in rocky dam ck, jacks around the bridge structures in the Pioneer River. The nearby Cremorne area has produced average flathead on reflextion 3” Bammer lures. These Reflextion lures have proved to be a good alternative to the soft vibes for jacks as well. Expect the water to be discoloured therefore darker coloured lures may be preferred. Our local dams have satisfied any itch you might have for a big barra. Peter Faust is leading at the moment with anglers locating the old creek beds on their electronics then waiting for the fish to flood through. Transam silent 70, which is a hard vibe has produced fish when other lures have not. It will also pay to be ready on the dams for Decembers full moon. Given a window in the weather mackerel are still around close inshore near the current lines however they will move on in a week or two.

Good Luck.
